The President of the Maputo Municipal Council, David Simango, opens this Thursday, the section of Av. Julius Nyerere, between Praça do Destacamento Feminino and Praça dos Combatentes, in Xiquelene.
The route was discontinued in 2000 due to the torrential rains that hit the country in general and the southern part in particular. Avenue Julius Nyerere is of fundamental importance in linking the city center and the northern part, with areas of Xiquelene, Hulene-express, Magoanine, among others.
The first works on the section of Julius Nyerere began in 2011 with the provision of the contract to be completed in 2012. However, it was being extended for several reasons, until the City Council of Maputo opted for termination by the contractor.
The work was resumed in July last year, entrusted to a new contractor (Construções Gabriel Couto), after the previous (Britalar), saw the award of contract canceled due to repeated delays and poor quality of work.
